There comes a time when you should bulldoze and start new and fresh! Not only that the coffee is watery,no flavor,plastic soda cups should have been replaced LONG ago chipped around the edges. Now lets get to the bathrooms,there is a saying about restaurants, that the kitchen is as clean as the bathroom,well let me tell you the bathroom could use a good POWERWASH! WOW! There's old and clean and then there's old and neglected! That's where this restaurant falls into a category, neglected! If the managers,owners,would just take a look around and see what's happening here they probably wouldn't want to eat here either. I've been in the industry a long time and have an appreciation for seasoned restaurants,this has been neglected a long time ago.I would encourage the manager and owner to come in as a customer and see if they would spend their hard earned money,in such a place. Service was great, I will say that, the server has nothing to with the extensive neglect here.

The food was delicious! We received excellent customer service! Great atmosphere! I love the duck pond outside! I ordered a club sandwich, and it was fantastic! My daughter had the fried chicken, and she said it was really good. You all are doing a great job there! Keep it up. Five stars and two thumbs way up! 👍👍

This is a great place for breakfast or lunch. The service is outstanding. Their waitresses are friendly and attentive. The food is really good. Their menu has a large selection. If it isn't on the menu, they will do their best to accommodate. Plenty of parking including handicap. The only downside is it can't be seen from the main road.

I eat breakfast there once a week and the food is very good but the service is even better. The breakfast cook tends to chop rather than scramble eggs and their country gravy is too gelatinous but everything else is great. Best livermush in the area.

We had a Church meeting there. Server were very nice and fast. They refill your coffee constantly which was so nice. Food was very good and affordable compare to IHop, Denny's. Only reason i gave 3 stars because the Cashier Lady was not very Nice and she judged me to quick while i was giving a tips. My Group we ate about $60 and i paid with credit card and i usually pay half cash/ half card tips. So i put about 5$ on Card, she reacted really bad but she didn't know i was going to put CASH also. I had about $5 cash. Total tips was $10. Reaction that she gave was terrible..Management needs to fix that ....

Decent prices for breakfast and very friendly staff.

Most underrated restaurant in Charlotte. We've been coming here for years. When every other restaurant is packed you can walk right in here with no problem. This place should have way more customers than it does.

Always have loved Jonathan's. We've been going there for years. The staff are very attentive and will do everything they can to accommodate your needs. The food always comes out fast and fresh.

Worked there with some of the best people in this world. The food is a good price, with huge sizes. We have done updates, the pond is now just full of plants and not a pond. We have updated our menu as well there's something for everyone. If someone is slow they are most likely new so give them a break. We are always busy on sundays so if it's your first time try a friday at 5. Always looking for new waitresses, or people to hire. Our sanitation rate is also a 98 now. Jonathan's is where memories begin.

This is a typical breakfast place. Good food food service. I do miss the pond though.

My husband & I love Jonathon's and would give it 5 stars for food and wait staff but had a bad experience yesterday. My husband ordered chicken livers which is one of his favorites and he always orders it with lots of gravy and onions. The livers were $7.25 which is very reasonable; however, when the check came, there was an additional $2.00 charge. The waitress said it was for the onions - that raw onions were free but the charge was because they were sauteed. The onions cost 27.5% of the original cost which I agree is ridiculous. This was at the owners direction. He also charges 60 cents for a small cup of ranch dressing to go with the fried squash - annoying. The dressing charge is noted on the menu. For a place to have such friendly staff, this sort of practice does not speak well of management. We will probably come back but he says when he wants chicken livers, he will go Gus's Sir Beef where they are equally as friendly but not so tacky.

I don't have a lot to say about Jonathan's, the outside needs a makeover really badly it just looks dirty and unkept. The inside could use an update as well I know it's an older restaurant but actually looking old isn't helping them get business. It's right across from one if the busiest shopping spots in Matthews but I would drive right by it and not even know it was a restaurant. The food is ok I had the Western omelette and Hash browns which were cold. My mom got a vegetable plate and a salad which they brought at the same time as the hot food. Over all the whole experience was mediocre even the service was just ok.

Good food and friendly service

Extremely disappointed coming here today. With COVID-19 still being a concern, I was very put off by the fact that the staff did not seem to take it seriously. Almost every staff member I saw was wearing their face mask incorrectly. And there was not proper social distancing between tables because they're putting everyone in the booths. Considering that the demographic that dines here is typically an elderly crowd and they are the most affected by COVID-19, it's really disconcerting seeing the response be handled so poorly. I have been to a couple of other restaurants that have opened their dining rooms back up and all workers are wearing masks and gloves properly, so it was surprising to find they weren't doing that here. I wont be back for a while.

Friendly staff, good food, great prices! My granddaughter had chocolate chip pancakes with bacon and I had an egg over easy, toast and bacon. Very tasty and bacon was crisp. Both were great!

A quiet meat and 2 sides style restaurant. Also an extensive all day breakfast menu. It's not gourmet but filling comfort food at a very low price.Wait staff very helpful and as sweet as the tea.
